July 3, 2009 Dubuque Brewing and Malting Building Fire! On May 5, 2009 ABA Member Jim Massey reported a fire at the Dubuque Brewing and Malting Company in Dubuque, Iowa. This site was one of the stops on the bus trip at the 2008 ABA Dubuque Annual Meeting. This architectural treasure has been under increasing pressure to be demolished by a developer. The fire was under control quickly, but this building will not be able to sustain many more hazards. Recently an editorial in the local Telegraph Herald was seen supporting the destruction of this landmark. ABA members are encouraged to become involved in their communities to help preserve these landmarks - Once destroyed they are gone forever!
